AARP in Houston, Equal Justice Works, and Lone Star Legal Aid are teaming up to bring you the first-ever Disaster Resilience Awareness Webinar. The idea is to help you gain awareness about disaster-related legal challenges and share resources for disaster preparedness and recovery efforts. You will hear how you can legally protect your property and assets before a disaster hits. Believe it or not, disaster benefits and homeownership are intertwined. When your home or property is damaged during a disaster, you must show proof the house is yours to qualify for many repair programs and federal assistance. This session will provide you resources best to prepare you and your family for the next disaster. It is also designed to provide you with information to avoid scams during your recovery efforts from Winter Storm Uri.
